Fidya and Kaffarah are acts of worship that help fulfil an obligation while supporting people in need.
Fidya applies when a person cannot make up a missed fast because of a lasting reason such as chronic illness, old age or a condition that makes fasting unsafe.
Kaffarah applies when a Ramadan fast is deliberately broken without a valid reason. For each such fast, 60 people in need are fed.
While most of us plan our next meal, some children can only hope for one. The children Zobia Trust cares for live with physical and mental disabilities in Azad Kashmir. Many come from families with almost nothing - for them, a plate of food is not routine, it is relief.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Said:
"When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them. - Sahih Muslim"
Fidya and Kaffarah are given to people who are genuinely in need of food. At Zobia Trust, your giving helps provide meals and Ramadan support to disabled children and families facing hardship in Azad Kashmir.
Your donation helps children who already rely on Zobia Trust's schools, kitchens and care. From daily school lunches to Ramadan food rations, your Fidya and Kaffarah can help put nutritious food on the table for a child who needs it most.
The amount of Fidya depends on the cost of feeding one person in need. At Zobia Trust, the current suggested amount is around £5 for each missed fast. Please confirm the current rate before publishing.
Kaffarah is different. For each Ramadan fast deliberately broken without a valid reason, Kaffarah is around £300, representing food for 60 people in need. If you can make up a missed fast later, you should do so rather than paying Fidya.
Fidya and Kaffarah can be paid at any time of year - during Ramadan, after Ramadan, or for fasts missed in previous years. If you have an outstanding obligation, you do not need to wait for the next Ramadan.
You can settle your Fidya or Kaffarah today and help provide food to disabled children and families through Zobia Trust's schools and Ramadan ration programmes in Azad Kashmir.
Your Fidya and Kaffarah do real, lasting good. They help provide food and support to disabled children and families facing hardship in Azad Kashmir. Your gift can become a daily school lunch, a Ramadan food ration, or support that helps a child receive the care they need.
At Zobia Trust, your giving supports children through our schools, kitchens and care programmes.
Behind every meal is a real child who needs care, nourishment and support. Your Fidya can provide one person with food for a missed fast, while Kaffarah can feed 60 people for a deliberately broken fast.
A simple act of giving can bring relief to a child and stability to a family.
We know that trust matters when you give. Zobia Trust follows a 100% donation policy, directing the value of your Fidya and Kaffarah towards those in need.
We run our own schools and kitchens in Mirpur and Islamgarh, helping food reach children directly.
